Explore authentic Mexico -Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa
Experience a unique taste of Mexico and immerse yourself in the relaxed, laid back lifestyle of Zihuatanejo. Marea is perfectly located on a quiet coastal road; close to the main town and just up the beach from a small fishing village. Head to the village to pick up fresh ingredients for a fiesta or to town to shop for some local treasures to take home.

Barra de Potosi —
A small fishing village where each night they fish the shores of Playa Blanca. Restaurants with wood burning clay stoves prepare some local favorites. After a fresh cooked meal relax in a hammock that lines the restaurants. That authentic fishing village so many search for but so few find.

Marine Turtle Rescue and Conservation Center —
A group of dedicated volunteers comb the 10 miles of Playa Blanca rescuing turtle eggs and bringing them to maturity. Visit the center and help them release turtles and learn about how turtles survive in the wild. Amazing experience for kids of all ages.

La Cholle —
This recently discovered ceremonial center is the only one in this continent made out of bricks and modeling clay during the Pre-Columbian period. Experience a guided tour through the Cuitlateca vestiges and learn about the ethnic group who took the knowledge of pottery to a higher level. A must see for all history lovers.

Bay of Zihuatanejo —
The narrow cobblestone streets of downtown hide wonderful local restaurants, bars, boutiques and artisan studios. Fishers still meet every morning on the beach by Paseo del Pescador (Fishermen’s Passage) to sell their catch of the day. At night, young lovers and families stroll carefree along the romantic waterfront sidewalk. Zihua is the best of both worlds. No wonder Andy and Red chose to live out their post-prison days here in The Shawshank Redemption.

Water Activities —
The 80 degree temperature of Zihuatanejos Pacific Ocean is fantastic for snorkeling, fishing, surfing or any other water activities you enjoy. Each winter Humpback whales migrate south to give birth. Directly in front of Marea is a favorite spot for mother and calves to grow and play.
On a sparsely inhabited and touristed, nine mile, pristine beach just over the ridge south of Zihuatanejo, Marea is peaceful, pretty and wonderful. This beach can compete against the best around the world. If you want Mexican Pura Vida, this is the place.
